Memories To Diamonds: Love Beyond Goodbye

Chuanita

Pets have an indescribable effect on our lives. A tiny, very special pup – Chuanita – left a hole in her family’s heart that nothing can ever fill. Her family chose to remember her by creating a memorial diamond in her honor, so they could have her with them forever. Travel was a huge aspect of her family’s life and now she can keep joining them on their adventures.

‘She was special. She taught us that such love is possible. It has been two years since she’s gone. She was a long waited dog. Since I was a teenager. My husband never wanted a toy dog, but one day he gave up on me crying every single birthday and refusing a present if it was not a dog, and we got a puppy. OMG, she stole his heart (mine, of course as well)! You can love a dog as a dog or as your child as we did  (we do have kids, and they were like siblings). She was small but with a big personality.’

‘We never go anywhere if our dog is not welcome. Even at weddings. We went on a holiday only where it is pet friendly. Our life changed. We used to drive 4000km for a vacation only so that she could travel with us. It is difficult to describe. We could do anything for her without a doubt.’

‘But one day, she had a seizure. After the vet visit, she was diagnosed with heart failure, and there was nothing we could do about it, just strict medication, which made her go for another 6 months and ruined her liver. She ended up in hospital in Spain on our life trip around Europe. She loved heat and sun. Accidentally I named her Chuanita- a Spanish name.’

‘When we got her, Spain was far away as a dream only, but lucky enough if you can say so, she died on our hands on her favorite beach and not by herself in hospital. I want to talk about her, but it’s still difficult every time. I cry even now writing this to you; I do. Not everyone can understand how you can love a dog like this, so having a diamond is really special. Thank you once again.’

‘The other dog struggled with her loss, it was heartbreaking to see how she ran into the house looking for Chuanita and realized she was not there. She shut herself down. We even visited a vet because she refused to eat for several months. She ate only to survive. She’s much better now. We rescued a dog, and they’re friends, but I can see she is not as close as she was with Chuanita.’

‘I try to tell people who suffer from the loss of a loved one about your service, that such a beautiful thing is possible. I could not thank you enough for creating this diamond. Now she can be with us every minute of our life course. She was special. She taught us that such love is possible. It has been two years since she’s gone. We still grieve but having a diamond does help me a lot on bad days.’
