Freeway
An unlikely meeting in an unlikely place – a kitten meets her forever family on the
freeway, thus gaining her name and a family for life.
Freeway as a Kitten
Freeway received her name the day my husband stopped traffic on a 4-lane road
to scoop her up and bring her home. She was small enough to fit in his shirt
pocket and we bottle-fed her until she was old enough to eat solid food. From the
moment she arrived she made it clear she had a huge personality, bold, fearless,
loyal and loving. She always thought of herself as a human, having to taste all
human food and sleeping only when we went to bed. She was always with us as
we worked around the house, watched TV or were in the yard. She chased deer,
dogs, raccoons, skunks, and even once a bear, out of our yard.
Freeway as a 17 Year Old Cat
Freeway was our supervisor, home protector, and best friend. She was with us
for 17 1/2 years. I can not imagine a more fitting tribute to her than this beautiful
diamond. Thank you for all your help and patience during our loss and this lovely
treasure we can keep always.
