Pacino
A small pup with a big family, big heart, and even bigger love for pound cake.
‘He came to us at age 15 from animal control. He was a 7lbs shihtzu with a lot of
personality. He immediately fit in with our other three pitfall female dogs. The
girls became very protective of him, so he ruled the household. In the last 3 years,
we saw him age, his retina completely detached in one eye, so he was blind.
Despite us doing surgery on the other eye, he could only see light. But it did not
stop him. He was still very active. His arthritis worsened, so it was a little more
difficult for him to walk, so he loved to be carried, but when he wanted to
exercise, he would not let you pick him up.’
‘He was a grumpy demanding old man, and we loved him. He made his needs
heard by doing one bark that progressed to a high-pitched scream. He
immediately knew when I was home and demanded attention. At night, I would
have to rock him to sleep. He loved going to the beach. He enjoyed traveling,
period. We all fell in love with him, from my mom to his regular veterinarian to his
ophthalmologist.’
‘His age did not stop him. His passing was very unexpected as it was due to a
brain tumor that we had no idea was there. He saw his veterinarians several times
throughout the year and was always in great health. One night he started having
seizures that caused internal bleeding, and despite being hospitalized, we had to
decide to let him go. I miss him daily, and the diamond will allow me to have a
little piece of him with me at all times.’
‘On his 18th birthday, my mom baked him his favorite cake, a pound cake.’
